I still can’t believe we finally made it to the British Virgin Islands. This trip had been sitting on my dream list for what felt like forever, and after years of delays—green card stuff, closed borders, life in general—it finally happened. Six full days of exploring one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and let me tell you, it blew every expectation out of the water.
From the second we stepped onto Jost Van Dyke with the smell of salt in the air and a daiquiri in hand, I knew this trip was going to be something special. Each day brought a new island, a new vibe, and a new story. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to island-hop through the BVI, I’m here to walk you through every beach bar, boat ride, and sunset moment. Buckle up—this was one for the books.
Day 1: Jost Van Dyke Vibes & Beach Bar Legends
We kicked off the trip with that unbeatable feeling of freedom—you know, the one that hits when your passport gets stamped and the ocean breeze hits your face. Leaving from St. Thomas, it only took about 45 minutes by boat to reach Jost Van Dyke, and right away, the British Virgin Islands felt like a dream come true.
First stop: Foxy’s Beach Bar
As soon as we cleared customs (super easy, by the way—our captain Christian handled it like a pro), we headed straight for Foxy’s, the legendary beach bar that’s been rocking since 1985. Fun fact: they used to make all the drinks with just one blender. I had a frozen daiquiri and can confirm, it still hits.
Don’t miss: Pinky’s
Right next door, we stumbled into Pinky’s Kitchen, where Pinky herself was whipping up Caribbean goodness. She’s known around the islands as the best local chef, and the second you see the love she puts into every dish, you get why.
Afternoon: White Bay & Soggy Dollar
From there, we cruised over to White Bay, one of the most iconic spots in the BVIs. You swim to shore to get to Soggy Dollar Bar—no docks here, just sandy feet and Painkillers (the original rum cocktail invented right here). It was tropical perfection, and the water was clearer than any photo could capture.
We wrapped the day with toes in the sand, sunset on the horizon, and a reminder that this is what the Caribbean does best—laid-back bliss with just enough buzz.

Day 2: Island-Hopping to Anegada + Honor System Magic
We woke up early, excited to head even farther off the grid—destination: Anegada, the flattest and most remote island in the BVI chain. Unlike the steep, hilly terrain of most Virgin Islands, Anegada is all about open skies, white sand, and electric blue shallows.
Boat ride + epic views
We passed by luxe properties in Oil Nut Bay, waved at Richard Branson’s Necker Island, and made note of future dinner reservations at Saba Rock. The ride was bumpy but beautiful, and after about 45 minutes, we touched down in a totally different world.
Stop 1: Cow Wreck Beach Bar
This is where island magic kicks in. At Cow Wreck, the bar runs on the honor system. Yep, you eat, drink, and just settle up later. It’s charming, chill, and somehow it totally works. The drinks were strong, the fish tacos hit the spot, and the owner—Valensita—welcomed us like old friends.
Stop 2: Anegada Beach Club
Later, we explored Anegada Beach Club, which has these stylish beachfront tents (think luxury glamping with a Caribbean twist). Calm waters, stingray sightings, and hammocks in the breeze. It was impossible not to relax.
Evening: Saba Rock
On the boat ride home, we changed into something cute and stopped for dinner at Saba Rock. Think dreamy sunset views, a seafood-heavy menu, and good vibes with new friends. Another perfect day in paradise.
Day 3: The Baths, Estate Living & Full Moon Feels
Waking up at Diamond Reef Estate
Our home base for the trip was the breathtaking Diamond Reef Estate on Great Camanoe Island. This place is next-level. Think: sprawling oceanfront villa, 10-burner kitchen, breezy lounges, and even a private hot tub overlooking the sea. You can book private chefs here, host a wedding, or just chill in style.
Morning dip + villa tour
We spent the morning exploring the house—reading nooks, massive living rooms, garden paths, and panoramic views at every turn. It’s the kind of place where you could lose hours just relaxing on a balcony with a cold drink and a sea breeze.
Adventure: The Baths on Virgin Gorda
Midday, we headed to The Baths—arguably the most famous natural attraction in the BVIs. It’s a maze of granite boulders, natural pools, and secret tunnels carved over millions of years. We swam from the boat to shore and took the self-guided trail through the caves. If you’re a sucker for geology and gorgeous water, this place is pure magic.
Evening: Full Moon Party at Beef Island
To top it all off, we celebrated the full moon at Beef Island with live music, food, and moonlit ocean views. I couldn’t have imagined a better ending to our third day in the BVI.

Day 4: Chill Vibes & Cultural Gems on Tortola
After three days of non-stop exploring, we slowed it down on Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands.
First stop: Cane Garden Bay.
This beach is the definition of "laid-back island life." Soft sand, mellow waves, and a string of beach bars and restaurants lining the shore. Grab a rum punch at Quito’s Gazebo, and let the day unfold with music and sun.
Afternoon: Callwood Rum Distillery.
Located just up the road from the beach, this 400-year-old distillery is one of the Caribbean’s oldest. For a couple of bucks, you can taste locally made rum and tour the stone building that still uses the original pot still method.
Evening: Dinner at The Dove.
Back in Road Town, The Dove Restaurant offers a cozy garden patio and an elevated Caribbean-fusion menu. Perfect for date night or a celebratory meal with friends.

Day 5: Sailing Day Trip + Norman Island Treasure Vibes
Charter a sailboat (or hop aboard with a local captain like our guy Christian) and head out for a full day on the water.
First destination: The Indians.
This rocky formation just off Norman Island is prime snorkeling territory. Think vivid coral gardens, sea fans, and tropical fish galore. Bring an underwater camera—you'll want to remember this.
Next up: Norman Island and The Caves.
Nicknamed the real-life Treasure Island, Norman is filled with lore about pirate gold. Snorkeling through the caves feels like swimming through a secret world. It’s equal parts adventure and chill.
Lunch stop: Willy T (The William Thornton Floating Bar).
Yes, it’s a bar... on a boat... anchored in the bay. This spot is legendary for wild fun, great food, and a few daring cliff jumpers. Order the mahi mahi tacos and embrace the floating party.
Evening sail back = golden hour magic.

Day 6: Spa, Shopping & Secret Beaches
You’ve earned a pampered morning.
Morning: Spa time at Scrub Island Resort.
Book a massage or facial at Ixora Spa, perched cliffside with sea views and soothing breezes. Afterward, sip a smoothie by the infinity pool or dip into the turquoise bay nearby.
Midday: Boutique shopping on Virgin Gorda.
Explore the local boutiques near Spanish Town and find handmade jewelry, breezy dresses, or island-inspired home decor. Nutmeg & Co. is a great stop for gifts and local artwork.
Afternoon escape: Savannah Bay.
End your trip with a secret beach moment. Savannah Bay is quiet, expansive, and almost always empty. Bring a picnic, snorkel gear, and a good book. This is the kind of spot that feels like it was made just for you.
Final dinner: Hog Heaven.
This clifftop BBQ joint has views that will take your breath away. Order the ribs and plantains, grab a cold Carib beer, and soak in your final BVI sunset. Cheers to island time.
A Caribbean Journey to Remember
If you have the chance to stretch your stay in the BVI, do it. These extra days let you really dig into what makes this island chain special—from its hidden history and wild nature to the warm community and unforgettable food. Whether you’re chasing treasure, sipping cocktails, or floating in silence, the British Virgin Islands will meet you with magic.
